Katy Schutte's improv gubbins, August 2015.
Oh Boy!
Welcome to August, the time of year when everyone disappears to Edinburgh for the Festival Fringe.
I am taking a year off, so that means I’m only up there 20th – 28th doing 3 or 4 shows a day. Aaaaand, here’s a blog I wrote about narrative improv, or kinda the opposite of narrative improv: Coens' Gloves (or Why I'm Bored of Chekhov's Gun)
Oh Boy! The Quantum Leap Show
Last year I created and directed Oh Boy! the improvised tribute to the Quantum Leap TV series. It got some love in Edinburgh, so I’ve retooled it and it will be back for the whole of the festival. I’m pleased to introduce Jonah Fazel and Lewis Harrison Barker as new show regulars in this Maydays production. You can see us preview the show in Brighton on 1st August at the Rialto Theatre, then 7th – 30th August at 12:15 in the Counting House Ballroom (not Mondays).
If you want to see me and other Maydays performing in Edinburgh, come see:
Maydays and Friends: Unplugged, Doors to Manual, The Bumper Blyton Improv Adventure, Ten Thousand Million Love Stories, Impromptu Shakespeare and The Nursery Presents.
Project2
You can also get your science fiction fix in Edinburgh 22nd – 27th August with Project2, 5:50pm at the Nursery.
Geekeasy will also be back in the Autumn with Kids’ TV, 80s Movies and Crystal Maze themed shows.
Destination Podcast
Coming up:
More
episodes, another New York special with Brandon Gardner and our
special from Austin, Texas.
You can see us perform Destination Live in Edinburgh on 24th & 27th August, 9:30pm at the Nursery.
Improv Classes
Come and mess about with me at the Nursery/Maydays drop in classes on Saturday 8th and 15th August. Book ahead of time to secure a place and to save a few quid.
I’ll be teaching at some festivals in the Autumn and they’re open for booking now! The Maydays Improv Retreat in Dorset in September, October Hoopla classes (London) and Improv Fest Ireland in November.
I’m currently coaching teams in London and elsewhere, so
if you’d like some help with your team or show.
