Need an Improv Coach?

HELLO
I’m Katy Schutte. I probably met you in a workshop or at a show somewhere. I’m a writer, improviser, performer and teaching artist with a special interest in folklore, neo-paganism and nature.

Living by the Tides
When I lived in London, I would check the tubes were running when I got up. Now I check the tides. Low tide means Pooka the dog has the maximum amount of beach to run on, and high or low tide means I can have a (brief, cold) sea swim.
On Wednesday, I had the joy of watching Folkestone Improv Theatre’s first gig! I’ve been performing and teaching improv for over 20 years now and it’s always exciting to see a scene rapidly building fans and performers.
I’m working on my Folklore Studies Dissertation at the moment, and making hand-drawn schedules (as well as doing the work) is really delighting me.

IMPROV COACHING: FESTIVAL SPECIAL!
If you’re getting ready to perform your improv show at a Festival (such as Brighton or Edinburgh Fringe), I’m here to help you get ready. With 14 Edinburgh Fringe years in my pocket, various awards, five-star and sellout shows, I can not only guide you on how to keep your improv fresh over back-to-back dates, but also work on professional outcomes and a healthy mindset. I’m offering a reduced rate of £75ph for a minimum two-hour group session (normally £180) in April.
IRL in London/Folkestone or via Zoom. Cheaper for solo and duo shows.
1:1 COACHING/NOTES: FESTIVAL SPECIAL!
If you’d like some help with your solo/scripted show, I can offer:
A script spa. I just made that phrase up, but it sounds nicer than ‘notes’. We can punch up jokes, nail the structure and work on any blocks.
Strategies and beats for improvised sections of your scripted show including audience participation. I absolutely nailed this for Paul & Laura Don't Give a Sh*t (Sorry) and frankly, I’d like to do it more.
Direction/an ‘outside eye’. If you’re self-directing, or you’d just like a fresh view on your show, you can send me a video of a rehearsal or work-in-progress and I’ll send you some thoughts and exercises.
Reduced rate of £50ph during April. Zoom; or ask me about live sessions. You don’t have to be doing a Festival for my special rates. Just book a session during April.
I have a tour and a bunch of festivals over the summer, but frankly, this is enough for one newsletter, so I’ll catch you up on all that next time…
Thanks for reading.
