Katy Schutte: Improv, Writing and Other News for November
News, Shows and Classes from Katy Schutte
Hi Friend!
So much has happened in the last month and I’ve been travelling around a lot. Happily, now I get to have a few weekends in London.
I am excited to be pushing the envelope at this point in my improv life. I’ve now performed my first improvised solo show, Screamplay, at Bristol Improv Theatre and passed an audition for hip hop improv show Track 96!
Fun news! I’m in a CBC podcast which is coming out soon. Have a listen to this teaser. It’s really exceptionally cool.
In other news, the Maydays Retreat was an absolute joy, as was being back on stage with Knightmare Live for the first time in a couple of years! Today, I started work on a new scripted theatre show at Omnibus Theatre.
Classes!
From 10th November:Do Scenes, Get Notes (online)
This does what it says on the tin. A scenework improv course with different improv instructors.
From 1st December:Write Your Solo Show (online)
I ran this sell-out course three times last year and many of the students went on to write, produce and perform their own shows. I couldn’t be more proud and I’m happy to be running the course again for anyone that would like to equip themselves with writing tools and find a great group to be accountable with.
Throughout 2022:Mythic Improv Journey (online)
I started running these in January and both me and the students have found it profound and life-affirming to mark the seasons, work with myths and stories and use longform as a celebratory ritual.
Shows!
16th November:Ghostwatching (online)
My online immersive paranormal investigation is happening again on 16th November. It’s a one-off event with only 13 tickets. You get to play yourself or a character with some simple instructions emailed to you ahead of time. It’s spooky and fun.
17th November:Dead British, Live Recording (Nottingham)
This is an improvised radio show all about dead famous British people by The Maydays and Union Jack Radio with lots of guest improvisers and incorrect history.
27th November:WrongCom and Sideliners Guests (London)
Edmund Fargher and I rewrite film classics into romcoms live on stage at Hoopla. We’ve done Alien, Terminator 2 and Jurassic Park. What’s next? On the same night, we’re hosting some excellent Sideliners fans in a muck-around improv set.
Thanks for reading. Now go meditate.
