Hi Friend!

The year is turning towards the autumn (in this hemisphere) and it’s the new school year. I love this time. My energy goes up! I’m thrilled about the darker days, the new pencil case and Halloween on the horizon.

Here are two awesome bits of news in case you missed them on the socials (@katyschutte on Insta - I’ve abandoned the others).Firstly, we filmed two episodes of our sitcom Sideliners, which you helped to crowdfund! It’s been a long time coming and I can’t wait till we can show them to you.

Secondly, I have been invited to be an Artist in Residence on the Arctic Circle Program! In October 2022, I’ll be exploring the high-Arctic Svalbard Archipelago and Arctic Ocean aboard a specially outfitted sailing vessel as research for a new show.

What else happened since the last one of these? I flew a plane, did a bunch of live gigs, performed at Boom Chicago Comedy Festival - my first irl improv festival since the start of the pandemic - knitted socks and co-ran the first International Improv Station Intensive. Nailing it.

Chris Mead and I are putting our decades of experience together to teach a Masterclass with loads of tools you can use to create, design, cast, direct and produce your own improv show.

From 29th September:Exploring Horror!

An improv class exploring the narratives, tropes and characters of horror to expand your longform improv practice. This is a 6-week online course 7-9pm every Wednesday. You don’t need to know horror!

Throughout 2022:Mythic Improv Journey

I started running these in January and both me and the students have found it pretty profound and life-affirming to mark the seasons, work with myths and stories and use longform as a celebratory ritual.

My forever duo partner Rachel Blackman and I are very excited to be in Zurich for ten days, teaching and doing shows. My intensive class has sold out, but if you’re local and you’d like to see some shows, we’d love to see you there.
