Katy Schutte: Improv and Other News for June

News from Katy Schutte

Hi ,

Let’s start with The Arctic Circle.

Firstly, welcome, if you are new to my newsletter. I haven’t published one since March, so you haven’t missed anything recently. Let’s do one urgent improv class plug before I get to the Arctic stuff…

If you’d like to take a long form improv class with me, I have a two-day one THIS WEEKEND in Bristol. I crush on the Bristol Improv Theatre; it’s well worth a visit!

Twoprov Weekend

11th - 12th June, Bristol

I have performed duo improv for nearly 20 years with longstanding and occasional duo partners and I’ve learned a lot! You can come with or without a partner and no matter where you are on your long form journey.

So…I had an incredible adventure throughout April as an Artist in Residence on a boat in The Arctic Circle and high Arctic archipelago around Svalbard. I am so grateful for all the help I received, for the talent and inspiration of the other artists on the boat and for the theatre show that is emerging.I’m still getting over how GREEN London is and what a totally different environment I got to experience. I missed trees and darkness.

I DID go swimming in 0.8° Centigrade water, yes.For more, you can see my day-at-a-time photo diary on Instagram @katyschutte Below is a video made from three seconds of footage per day.

In other news, my sitcom pilot for Sideliners (written with Ed Fargher and made by a brilliant team) will be screened to the cast, crew and our funders later this month. We’ll be sending invites out in the next few days. Thanks again for your support!

I won a writing award for a (different) screenplay and I’m nominated for another (result pending).

Show!

Hell Yeah! (London) 17th June

A lovely queer long form show with incredibly talented women.

I adore the BIT and am so excited to offer another deep-dive training week for improvisers.

I am in these podcasts if you fancy a listen.Festival Podcast with Guy LloydHitchhikers and Appetizers

Maybe just have a cuppa and look at the rain?
