Folklore and Long Form Improv
Horror and Mythic improv workshops

I’m Katy Schutte. I probably met you in a workshop or at a show. I’m a writer, improviser, performer and teaching artist with a special interest in folklore, neo-paganism and nature.
News
I’ve had a lovely Wintering so far. I’ve been in the cold sea, taken the doggo to lots of beautiful places, had some family time and been on a writing retreat at Arvon in Hebden Bridge. I’m feeling refuelled and ready to be creative all over again.
I’m happy to announce that I’ve added a second cohort of the Mythic Improv Journey as the first one sold out. Here’s a bit more info if you’d like to join us for eight sessions throughout 2026:
The Mythic Improv Journey
What is it?
This is not an improv class. Instead, we’ll be using your existing long form improv skills to help you connect with yourself, the rest of the group and with the natural cycles of the year.
The Mythic Improv Journey is a year-long journey of discovery anchored in eight live Zoom meetings throughout 2026. Each session is part self-enquiry with solo and group prompts, some lecture/storytelling around folklore and pagan celebrations and around half of each session will be improvisation; using our art form to dig a little deeper and to have fun while we do.
The dates are based on the pagan Wheel of the Year and we’ll be inspired by a variety of themes, stories, traditions, celebrations and folklore from different sources and belief systems. All are welcome, no matter what you believe in.
I have an MA in Folklore Studies (distinction) and have practiced both Improv and Neo-paganism for over 20 years.
All classes are 7-9pm UK-time throughout 2026. BOOK or find out more here.
